About Akola Education Society-
Akola Education Society which runs Akola Law College was established on the auspicious day of Tilak Jayanti on July 23, 1927. The sapling has flourished into a sprawling Banyan Tree having multiple branches. It has a vision to provide educational services to the students of the region ranging from P. G. (Play Group) to P. G. (Post Graduate). At present, the Society has several educational institutions under its patronage including Akola Law College.
About Akola Law College-
It is a matter of great pleasure to introduce Akola Law College, Akola conducted by Akola Education Society. The college imparts education in B.A. LL.B. Five Year and LL. M. Two Year. The college is self financed education institution. The College is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. The first batch of law graduates passed out with 91% result in the year 2009- 2010. The mission of the college is to provide in-depth knowledge of law to the student community of the Western Vidarbha region. For this purpose, the college strives to attain and sustain excellence in every part of education. The college has a tradition of regularly organizing workshops, seminars, conferences and guest lectures. This time, the college proposes to move one step forward by organizing National Summit on Law and Legal Education.
Objectives of the National Summit:-
Akola Law College, Akola has pleasure in announcing the organization of two day National Summit on Law and Legal Education on 26-27 March 2011 to bring together on common platform the academia, educationists, thinkers, research scholars, students, lawyers, members from the Judiciary and the policy makers to deliberate on the current issues plaguing the academic world. It is an attempt on the part of the institution not only to generate a healthy debate but also to find out ways and means to effectively tackle the problems dogging the field of law and legal education. When the best brains in the country assemble and deliberate together, no problem can remain unsolved. This will be an opportunity to explore the ocean of thoughts and ideas on different legal issues. We, therefore, make a sincere appeal to all concerned with law and legal education to join the issue by attending and actively participating in the present National Summit.
A Call for Papers:-
Papers are invited on the following topics in about 3000 words along with an abstract thereof in about 350 words so as to reach the organizers not later than 1st March 2011 on a C.D. in MS Word in Times New Roman with Font size 12, and a hard copy thereof. An abstract in about 500 words should be sent on or before February 20, 2011. The paper should also be e-mailed at akl-law@rediffmail.com. A timely submission of papers will facilitate their inclusion in the souvenir. Please also send a recent passport size photograph along with your paper. The decision of the Editorial Board in the matter of selection of papers will be final. Papers are subject to review by the Editorial Board.
Paper Presentation:-
Delegates, whose papers are selected for presentation, will be allowed to make a presentation during the technical sessions. A time slot of not more than 5 minutes will be allotted for making the presentation. Participant delegates, whose papers are selected, are requested to keep their presentation brief, highlighting the main points of their paper.
Topics:-
1) Problems and Perils of Aided and Unaided Institutions.
2) Need to frame a Common Syllabi for Law Courses all over the country.
3) Shortage of Teaching Faculty in Law and Measures to attract the talented persons to this Field.
4) Dispensing Speedy Economical and Trustworthy Justice - Role of A. D. R. measures in this respect.
5) Judicial Accountability of Judges and Social Acceptability of Lawyers.
6) Constitutional Reforms - with respect to Honour Killing, Live-in Relationship, Gay Marriages, Position of Senior Citizens in the backdrop Indian Culture and Tradition.
7) Role of Law Students in creating legal awareness.
8) Should refresher courses for practicing advocates be made compulsory?
9) Should law education be under the control and supervision of multiple bodies?
10) Is it time -
i) to revise the Reservation Policy? and
ii) to implement reservation for Women?
Registration of Delegates:-
Institutions Colleges are required to depute ateast two delegates to attend and participate in this unique event. Delegation fee is Rs. 1000/- per delegate (Rs. 700/- for Law students) which should be remitted on or before 10th March, 2011 in cash or by Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Akola Law College-National Summit", payable at Akola".
Accommodation:-
A provision for residential accommodation will be made on request.
Geographical location of Akola City:-
Akola is known as the "Cotton City". It is a district place, situated in the western Vidarbha region of Maharashtra State. It is well connected by rail and road with the country. NH 6, Kolkata-Mumbai highway passes through the city. It is directly connected by rail route with major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Pune, Kolhapur and Nagpur.
